TRONDHEIM VIKING SWORD SH2296 BY CAS HANWEI
Hanwei continues to push the envelope with its forging capability in the Trondheim sword, produced as a one-piece forging in pattern-welded high-carbon steel. "One piece forging" means that the blade, pommel, and guard are all made as a single piece. Patterned after swords that have been discovered in the area around Trodheim, Norway, the sword exhibits early ninth-century styling, a time when the Norwegian Vikings were pillaging Britain and Ireland. The beauty of the blade is matched by the grip and scabbard, both of which are wrapped in top-grain leather, engraved in a classic Viking motif.

These swords are historically accurate, fully functional, and made with the individual care that you will only find in swords costing thousands of dollars.

Viking Swords - Buried Historical Treasures
Very few weapons of Viking origin have survived till our days. This is not because of low quality of the weapons as some tend to believe. The reality is that Vikings used to bury their weapons (swords, helmets and armor) in the ground when the warriors died. Thus, many of the artifacts survived either in bad conditions or didn't survive at all. Some experts affirm that there are only about 1000 artifacts of Viking origin which survived; all of them are spread in major museums around the world.

Most of the discovered Viking swords are simply designed. They are equipped with a typical double edged blades and strong handles. They are designed to be wielded single-handed to keep one hand free for a shield. Topically, blades range from 24 to 36 inches long, but often reached from 27.50 to 31.50 inches. From late Viking Era blades have been found that extend up to 40 inches. Blade widths range from 1.5 to 2.3 inches and the swords weight usually range between 2 and 4 lbs. Viking sword blades had a slight taper, which helped bring the center of balance closer to the grip. It tapers towards the point and deeper central fuller on both sides. The hilt construction with its weighted elements (pommel and hand guard) provided needed balance for the huge blade.
