VIKING SWORD (54-084) by VALIANT ARMOURY
Whether sacking churches along the coast of Ireland, demanding Danegeld from English kings, solving arguments in a Holmgang (ritual form of dueling), or performing a wedding, the Vikings put their swords to great use. Inspired by the great Scandinavian raiders, our Viking sword is a no nonsense 27-inch broad bladed cutting tool. The heavy Brazil nut styled pommel and straight cross guard balance out the flat blade allowing one to utilize a shield in the off hand. Slightly forward heavy for tremendous cleaving potential, this sword was built for hewing through flesh and bone alike. The straight steel crossguard and heavy pommel are complimented by a tough hardwood handle. The simplicity of this single-hand sword also makes it suitable for Saxon and other Dark Age personas. Blade comes factory pre-sharpened(dull) and can be finely re-sharpened as needed. (Leather Scabbard Included)

BATTLE READY: Hand forged from tough high-carbon steel by the finest craftsmen, this sword is built for use. The guard and pommel are crafted from solid steel (unlike many other manufacturers who cast their fittings using a brittle zinc alloy). From the beautiful exotic hardwood handle to the expertly tempered blade, this sword is more than just a wall hanger!

VIKING WARRIORS
The Vikings are known as great warriors. This reputation is based on what we know about their weapons and battle tactics. The Viking Age that began so fearsomely in the 800’s tapered off in the 12th century much to the relief of many Europeans. The Vikings were Nordic people -- Danes, Swedes and Norwegians -- who sometimes sailed out of Scandinavia in hundreds of longboats to loot and pillage coastal cities. Laws of the late Viking period show that all free men were expected to own weapons, and magnates were expected to provide them for their men. The main offensive weapons were the spear, sword and battle-axe, although bows and arrows and other missiles were also used. Weapons were carried not just for battle, but also as symbols of their owners' status and wealth.
