1848 Colt Dragoon Revolver
One of the first revolvers invented by Sam Colt, this revolver was produced in various forms from 1848 - 1861 and in all about 20,000 pieces were made. It was a large powerful percussion-lock gun intended to be used from horseback. The 6-shot revolvers were .44 caliber and were recognized by the Texas Ranger and Indian fight scenes engraved on the cylinder. This non-firing version has functional mechanisms to illustrate the workings and loading of a percussion-lock revolver. Just like the one used by Guss in "Lonesome Dove. "
