BANNERS OF THE TEMPLAR ORDERNobleWares Image of Templar Knight Banners MF1527 and MF1527.1 by Marto of Spain BY MARTO OF SPAIN
DOUBLE SIDED MF1527 / SINGLE SIDED MF1527.1

Marto of Spain is world renown for quality and this Templar Banner is no exception. Made of 100% cotton this banner features a dual field halved in black and white. A Red Templar cross is centered and sewn within the white field. The Banners come in two style choices both measuring 44 inches from top to bottom and 28 inches across. Our double sided banner (MF1527) is best used in the field when both sides of the banner can be seen; such as when it is required to be hoisted upon a standard or trumpet etc. Where as, the single sided version (MF1527.1) can be used when hanging the banner proudly against your castle or office wall.

Order Of Templar Knights Banner MF 1527
The Order of the Templar Knights
(technically The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon) were founded just following the First Crusade of 1096. The Order was initially formed to protect European pilgrims to Jerusalem and back following the conquest. The Knights received official endorsement by the Catholic Church in 1129 and flourished, growing in strength and wealth, until 1307, when bankrupt King Philip IV obtained permission from Pope Clement V to put an end to the Order. Many members in France and elsewhere were rounded up, charged with heresy, tortured, and burned at the stake. The order was officially disbanded in 1312 AD, but legend holds that a group of Knights Templar survived the massacre, went into hiding, and kept the Order alive and growing in strength until today.

The clothing of the Templar, their flags and banners, were to be white in color (symbol of purity and religious vocation) and a cross of broad arms in the color red in the center. This symbol represents the four elements (the cross arms) and the "quintessence" (the center).
