These garments reflect a typical style worn by Noble Knights of Hospitaller Order who were openly active during the years of the crusades. The Knights of the Hospitaller Order

The Knights Hospitaller, also known as the Hospitallers, Order of Hospitallers, Knights of St John, Order of St John, and currently The Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta, were among the most famous of the Western Christian military orders during the Middle Ages. The Order of the Hospital of San Juan from Jerusalem has its origins about the year 1070, when a group of Italian merchants constructed a hospital in Jerusalem to care for the pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land. After the Western Christian conquest of Jerusalem in 1099 during the First Crusade, the organization became a religious and military order under its own charter, and it was charged with the care and defense of the Holy Land though they never left their welfare and charitable functions. In 1306 they invaded the island of Rhodes establishing their headquarters. Later they moved to the Island of Malta where they continued supporting the independence of their state and thus became known as "the Knights of Malta". REF/CREDITS
