BLACK CHAINMAIL HAUBERKNobleWares Image of Medieval Black Chainmail Hauberk NW1688 by Legends In Steel NW1688 BY LEGENDS IN STEEL
Chain mail armor was one of the first armors developed in the medieval era. A well-made chain mail could spell life and a weak chain mail, its end. Mid-thigh length and of 18 gauge steel, the steel has been darkened to a black finish for striking appeal. The steel mail links in this Hauberk are "butted" in the "European 4 in 1" pattern, consistent in size, and zinc coated making them resistant to rust. The shirt is mid-thigh length and ends in jagged tails all the way around. The sleeves are a full 19 inches and also end in jagged cuffs for a classic style. One size fits most. This medieval mail is a great buy and is perfect for Theatre, LARP, costume and medieval reenactment events!

Chain mail is made by creating a weave of multiple interlocking ringlets of iron or steel that, as a whole, are stronger than simply the sum of it parts; this Chain Mail Hauberk (Shirt) is a piece of body-protection that saw widespread use. Known throughout ancient times as a warriors body armor, the hauberk remained a primary protection until the advent of plated steel armor. Although the effectiveness of bare mail armors was somewhat lessened by the advancement of blunt and piercing weapon designs, chainmail remained an added component beneath plated armour due to its strength, flexibility and ease of wear.
