This beautifully decorated shield is fabricated in steel and features 3 golden-steel ornaments of the Royal Crown which decorate the shield and announce the royalty of the wielder. The shield is double reinforced steel with triple reinforced corners. This Royal Kight Shield measures 35.5 inches in height, 15 inches wide and weighs approx 5.4 lbs. This shield is beautifully detailed with rivited golden steel fittings that frame a deep red and white enameled finish aged with craquelure veins. Equipped with a thick steel chain on the reverse side of the shield, the shield is easily mounted and also features a handle/sword mount, giving the ability to handel the shield as well as cross mount most sized swords behind it.

Steel Chain & sword clamp on reverse side

A great conversation piece, collectors item and even LARP (Live Action Role Play) accessory. A decorative shield not intended to withstand actual blunt force combat. Specs may vary slightly from piece to piece.

THE KITE SHIELD
The Kite Shield first made its appearance during the 10th century. The Kite Shield was the logical evolution from the round shield carried by the Saxons. The round shield was adequate to protect one side of the warriors body, but was inefficient to cover the lower half of the body or protect from projectile weapons. The Kite Shield became popular among Norman warriors due to its length and design. The Kite Shield could effectively protect the lower part of the warriors body, as well as offering much improved protection against projectile weapons. The Kite Shield experienced wide spread use for 200 years, but was finally retired due to improvements in armor.
