Steel Chain & sword clamp on reverse side

A great conversation piece, collectors item and even LARP (Live Action Role Play) accessory. A decorative shield not intended to withstand actual blunt force combat. Specs may vary slightly from piece to piece.

DUCHY OF ANJOU
Duchy of Anjou is located in the lower valley of western France. Despite its comparatively small size the Counts and Dukes of Anjou have had a remarkably large influence on the course of events throughout Europe and the Near East. Successive rulers of Anjou and their descendants have become Dukes of Normandy and Aquitaine, joined the Knights Templar, and gained the thrones of Jerusalem, Sicily, Naples, England, Hungary, and France. The English translation of "fleur-de-lis" (sometimes spelled "fleur-de-lys") is "flower of the lily." This symbol, depicting a stylized lily or lotus flower, has many meanings. Traditionally, it has been used to represent French royalty, and in that sense it is said to signify perfection, light, and life.In the twelfth century, either King Louis VI or King Louis VII (sources disagree) became the first French monarch to use the fleur-de-lis on his shield. English kings later used the symbol on their coats of arms to emphasize their claims to the throne of France.
