HAND FORGED MEDIEVAL CARVING SET Hand Forged Medieval Carving Set PA7870 PA7886PA7870/7886 SmithWare
The fork features two pointed prongs for easy use, and finished with a forged look that makes it all the more authentic. Measuring 9 1/2" long with 3 1/2" prongs this replica fork like the medieval originals is hand forged in one piece of steel. The handle is expanded and rounded and provides a comfortable grip. And of course, you cannot have a fork(PA7870) without a knife, so this feasting fork pairs well with our carving knife(PA7886). The knife features a gently curved spine and a matching 5 1/2" curved blade, which tapers to a fine point, allowing for effective cutting and carving. The knife's tang is wrapped in black leather, and provides a comfortable and secure hold, while the knife measures 10 1/2 inches overall. The knife's tip features a small ring-curl, giving a touch of personality and the ability to hang it when not in use.

BLACKSMITH
The term "blacksmith" comes from the activity of "forging" iron or the "black" metal, namely iron as opposed to the "white" metals such as tin, silver or gold; "black metal" so named due to the color of the metal after being heated. The term "forging" means to shape metal by heating and hammering. "Smith" is from the Proto-German "smithaz" meaning "skilled worker" or "craftsman." Not only did Blacksmiths create armour and weapons, but they were also responsible for producing objects such as gates, grilles, railings, nails, candle lamps and fixtures, cooking and eating utensils, tools, furniture, agricultural equipment, jewelry, and decorative and religious items. In Medieval times, a "village smithy" was a staple of every town.
