This Miniature Sutton Hoo Helmet is a smaller simplified version of the famous Spangenhelm design with riveted helm bands, face guard, brass fittings, hinged cheek pieces, and neck guard. The Miniature Sutton Hoo Helmet is hand crafted and made of carbon steel, just like the real, life sized helmets that are fully functional. This Miniature Sutton Hoo Helmet is quite an impressive helmet and makes a great addition to any medieval collection. Miniature helmets make for a great home or office display on any bookshelf, table, or dresser. Includes a mini wooden helmet display stand.

In about 625 a King of East Anglia, possibly King Raedwald, was buried at the present-day Sutton Hoo estate near Woodbridge in Suffolk, UK. His tomb was a large wooden ship about 85 feet long and 15 feet wide at its widest spot. The ship had been sailed upriver and then dragged overland and then into a pit dug at the burial spot. The ship was then covered with a large mound of soil. The Sutton Hoo Helmet was recovered from the site of an Anglo-Saxon ship burial. Dating from the early 7th century, the helmet is believed to have belonged to King Raedwald, who died in 624 C.E. and is a great archeological importance. This reconstruction illustrates admirably the skill and decorative talent of the armours of the period.
