COLT 1849 CAP & BALL POCKET PISTOL 1259NQ by Denix of Spain Many volunteers carried their personally owned Pocket Pistols with them when they went off to fight in the War Between the States. More Model 1849 Pocket Pistols were produced than any other Colt cap-and-ball firearm. Over its 23-year production life (1850 - 1873) about 340,000 pieces were made in total. Some 200 variations were produced during this time.
This non-firing replica represents the "Wells Fargo" revolver model which, with its 3" barrel was relatively easy to carry . Open the loading chamber, cock the hammer and pull the trigger!
This non-firing "Wells Fargo" replica has a six shot rotating cylinder with a single 3 inch octagonal barrel and round trigger guard. The body of this 7-3/4 inch pistol revolver is finished in Polished Nickel, in complement to its Blued Steel cylinder, barrel, hammer and trigger. The grips are of polished hardwood. The Pocket Cap & Ball Revolver features a moving cylinder and firing mechanism and maintains the size, weight, and handling characteristics of the originals.
This .31 caliber small frame baby dragoon was relatively affordable in its time and widely used during the Gold Rush, Civil War, and Old West Eras. Though the Pocket Pistol had somewhat limited use in the American Civil War as compared to officially issued revolvers, it was likely more commonly used in saloons of the frontier underneath a poker table.
