LEATHER CAP POUCH HS-7847CS / HS-7847US by SZCO
The cap box was of leather construction and had a small piece of sheep's wool inside it for storing musket caps. The caps had to be kept dry, for if they got damp or wet, the caps would no longer produce the spark necessary to ignite the gun powder and fire the gun. The Pattern 1850 Standard Cap Pouch was made from 1850 through early part of the Civil War.

This Pattern 1850 Cap Pouch has your choice of US or CS markings embossed on the front. Two loops on the back side provide a maximum of approximately 2-3/8 inch belt access and are secured with rivets and additional thread stitching. Hand sewn with linen thread and made of top grade leather, this Cap Pouch has a wool lined interior and comes with a standard brass acorn finial for secure closure yet quick and easy access just like the originals. An authentic period finish is hand applied to complete the cap pouch. Our Civil War Cap Pouch is a great accessory to top off your authentic Civil War outfit. Ideal for re-enactments, weddings, LARPing, costumes for film and theatre.
