CIVIL WAR PLAIN LEATHER CAP POUCH HS-7848 by SZCO
The cap box was of leather construction and had a small piece of sheep wool inside it to keep the musket caps in it. The caps had to be kept dry, as if they got damp or wet, they cannot make the gun fire. Cap boxes were used for both pistols and rifles. The Pattern 1850 Standard Cap Pouch was made from 1850 through early part of the Civil War.

This Pattern 1850 Cap Pouch has no markings on the front flap making it an option for both US and CS impressions. Two loops on the back side provide a maximum of approximately 2-3/8 inch belt access and are secured with rivets and additional thread stitching. Hand sewn with linen thread and made of top grade leather, the Cap Pouch has a wool lined interior and comes with a standard brass acorn finial for secure closure yet quick and easy access. The period finish is hand applied to finish out the cap pouch. Our Civil War Cap Pouch is a great accessory to top off your authentic Civil War outfit. Ideal for re-enactments, weddings, LARPing, costumes for film and theatre.
