PRACTICAL BASTARD SWORD SH2428 PAUL CHEN / CAS Hanwei
The Hanwei Practical Bastard Sword features a blunt 5160 high-carbon steel blade made for reenactment and Western Martial arts. In addition to the blade, this practical version Bastard Sword (SH2428) differs from it's functionally sharpened cousin (SH2250) by increasing the transverse thickness of the guard, both to provide adequate strength for re-enactment use and to present a safer profile at the ends of the guard.
Another innovation is the provision of an all-leather scabbard, in contrast with the rigid scabbards normally provided with Practical swords - this is designed both to provide an extra margin of safety when combatants fall on the scabbard in battle and also to minimize the need for replacement scabbards.
The cross-guard has a nice curved forward swept shape and the pommel is of steel and is peened. The 31 inch blunted blade is forged from 5160 high carbon spring steel and is tempered providing a strong, safe, long lasting sword. The sword is supplied with the grip and scabbard in a neutral-colored leather to allow customization to the owners taste.
