This set of leg protection armor is a replica of those used throughout the Middle Ages. This set consists of articulating upper cuisse to protect the thigh, and a poleyn to protect the knee. Designed to fit most adults they are fitted with genuine leather adjustable buckled straps inside to allow a secure fit to each leg. The set is made of 18 gauge steel and the cuisse features a hinged backplate. Each measures approximately 25" tall overall and 12" wide. This sturdy set will be a great addition to anyone assembling their medieval armor for LARP or Reenactment events. Hang them in noble display on your castle wall when not in use.

CUISSE AND POLEYN
Cuisses are a form of medieval armour worn to protect the thigh. The word cuisse is the French word meaning 'thigh'. While the skirt of a maille shirt or tassets of a cuirass could protect the upper legs from above, a thrust from below could avoid these defenses. Thus, the cuisse was worn on the thighs to protect from such low blows. Padded cuisses made in a similar way to a gambeson were commonly worn by knights in the 12th and 13th Centuries, usually over chausses. Cuisse may have had "poleyns" (a component of Medieval and Renaissance armor that protected the knee) directly attached to them.
