LIONHEART SWORD (Silver finish) SG277 ART GLADIUS of Spain
Art Gladius historical swords are detailed representations of the swords of famous historical figures or legendary heroes. Son of Henry II and King of England 1189-99, Richard I was known as a very powerful king, a chivalrous knight, and a fearless warrior. He was called Coeur de Lion or Richard the Lionheart, but he is best known as the Crusader King for his involvement in the Crusades. This Lionheart sword is a beautiful representation of a sword he would have been proud to carry in his quest for Jerusalem.
The Silver edition Lionheart Sword (SG277) features the Heraldry of King Richard with battle depictions of Richard and his army throughout the hilt. His iconic shield of three lions passant is honored by two kneeling knights in the pommel. Perched atop the pommel is a sculpted winged dragon on guard. The black leather wrapped grip features silver spacers and a silver banner emblem that carries a golden cross and a lion passant in each quadrant. The hilt is antiqued silver zamak with hand painted detailing in gold.
The 34 3/4 inch blade is constructed in 420C stainless steel that is tempered to 45-50 HRC, and given a lustrous mirror polish that is virtually maintenance free. The Spanish steel blade is masterfully deep etched in black with Richards three lion crest, a crusader cross, a coronation scene, all of which are surrounded in medieval scrollwork. The blade is also stamped with the Art Gladius logo and Toledo seal of authenticity. The Lionheart Sword's dual-edge blade is un-edged for safety and well suited for costume, theatre, presentation and stunning display.
