MASTER OF THE TEMPLE SWORD (Black) SG280 ART GLADIUS
Art Gladius historical swords are detailed representations of the swords of famous historical figures or legendary heroes. The Knights Templar were a powerful crusading order of knights founded in the 11th Century with many of their number recruited from England and France. The supreme commander of the Templar Order was known as the Grand Master. This Master of the Temple sword is a beautiful representation of a sword he carried in his quest for Jerusalem.
The Masters of Temple Sword (SG280) features a hexagonal pommel engraved with the "2 knights on 1 horse" seal of the order and is surrounded by the Latin/Greek text "Sigillum Militum Xpisti" translating as "The Seal of a Soldier of Christ". The leather wrapped grip features the black and white banner with cross pattée that is associated with the Templar Order. The hilt is silver Zamak given a hard black baked enamel finish, heavily decorated with Templar symbols and hand painted detailing.
The 32 1/4 inch blade is constructed in 420C stainless steel that is tempered to 45-50 HRC, and given a lustrous mirror polish that is virtually maintenance free. The Spanish steel blade is masterfully etched with a figure depicting Christ and various Christian Saints. The Masters of the Temple Sword's dual-edge blade is un-edged for safety and well suited for costume, theatre, presentation and stunning display.
Note: These Fine Quality Decorative Swords are designed for costume and display and not intended for cutting or striking against other objects.
