GREEMAN ROUND BOX 9439 PAC TRAD This round box is made entirely from cold cast resin, but given that it is hand painted to resemble wood and leaves, it's an easy detail to miss. The round box features simulated, deep wood grain patterns, over which are set lighter brown branches entangle with rich verdant green leaves that run along its perimeter. The lid, by comparison, features the embossed ancient face of the greenman, decorated with streatching brances and leaves than fan out in tones of brown and green leaf accents. The box has a diameter of 4.5 inches and features a soft felt lined base that will protect any desk or display surface.
GREENMAN A Green Man is a sculpture, drawing, or other representation of a face surrounded by or made from leaves. Branches or vines may sprout from the nose, mouth, nostrils or other parts of the face and these shoots may bear flowers or fruit. Commonly used as a decorative architectural ornament, Green Men are frequently found on carvings in churches and other buildings (both secular and ecclesiastical). The Green Man is a recurring theme in literature. Sometimes the figure of Robin Hood is associated with a Green Man, as is that of the Green Knight in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Many forms of Neopaganism consider the green man to represent a common form of personal transformation in meditations or ritual. The icon of the face with leaves sprouting out is a representation of a personal visionary experience of "becoming" a green man or woman.
