ITALIAN LONGSWORD 88ITS COLD STEEL
Historically, the Long Sword featured a distinctive cruciform hilt and a long, double edged blade that was equally adept at opposing both light and heavily armored foes. Its extra-long blade offered the reach and leverage for powerful stabbing, cutting and chopping strokes while its long cross guard and heavy pommel were useful for hooking, striking and smashing. When heavy plate armor was encountered, strikes with the edge were often abandoned in favor of a "Half-Swording" technique; where one hand grips the hilt and the other the blade for grappling and in-fighting - to better direct the point in powerful jabs, and to accurately thrust at the small gaps and joints in a suit of armor.
Cold Steel’s Italian Long Sword is designed so that the blade and balance slightly favor the thrust, while still being capable of delivering astonishingly effective cuts. The sharpened blade measures 35 1/2 inches and is forged from tough 1060 carbon steel with a hard spring temper. It features a simple cruciform hilt, long upturned cross guard, leather-over-wood grip, and a heavy counter-balancing fish tail pommel.
The Cold Steel Italian Longsword measures 47 inches overall and weighs in at approximately 2lbs 8 oz. with a point of balance a little over 4 inches below the guard.

Scaled down in size and almost identical in appearance, fit, finish and materials, this dagger makes a terrific off hand parrying weapon and can stand alone as a blade you can wear with pride.
Modeled on the Italian concept of sword design, the blade and balance slightly favors thrusting attacks, however, its cutting edges are astonishingly effective too and can deliver some down right ferocious blows.
A companion dagger is available with the same exacting standards as its larger counterpart. The dagger is sharp enough to cut and slice with either of its twin edges, while sturdy and stiff enough to stab and thrust as well as block, parry and pass an opposing weapon.
