CRECY WAR SWORD SM36010 Kingston Arms- CAS Iberia The Battle of Crecy is known as one of most prominent of the Hundred Years War and one of the most decisive victories of the English over the French. Though the success was wrought mainly by wood instead of steel, the Crecy War Sword by Kingston Arms represents a considerable amount of time and research in to the specifications of single hand swords of the period, particularly from museum pieces and tapestries. The tapered, quadrangular hollow-ground blade is better-suited for thrusting, whilst retaining good cutting ability.
The Crecy War Sword features a traditional thru-tang, peened pommel handle construction for the utmost strength and durability. The forged hollow-ground blade is of 5160 High Carbon Steel and possesses a prominent central ridge that tapers the full length of the 32” blade providing support for the sharp cutting edge.
The 4 3/8” cord-wrapped leather grip is flanked by the stainless steel Type 11 guard and wheel pommel for comfortable and controlled single-hand fighting. The stainless arched guard pays homage to the English longbow men who drew victory in the sites of the English King, Edward III. The Crecy Sword comes with a leather-wrapped wooden scabbard and stainless chape.

The Battle of Crecy On August 26, 1346, during the Hundred Years’ War (1337-1453), the army of England’s King Edward III annihilated a French force under King Philip VI at the Battle of Crecy in Normandy. The battle, which saw an early use of the deadly longbow by the English, is regarded as one of the most decisive in history. The Genoese crossbowmen led the assault, but they were soon overwhelmed by Edward’s 10,000 longbowmen, who could reload faster and fire much further. French mounted knights were cut down in the merciless shower of arrows.
