COMPETITION CUTTING LONGSWORD SA1501 by Angus Trim The Angus Trim Competition Cutting Longsword by Gus Trim was designed specifically with HEMA cutting practitioners in mind. This agile sword has a sharp, 5160 high carbon steel blade with a hexagonal cross-section and considerable distal taper. The appleseed edge gives the blade ample sharpness, yet retains enough thickness behind that edge to ensure that the edge has more durability and longevity than an edge that is too thin.
The distal-tapering of the blade not only balances it for a responsive point of balance, but also gives the main cutting portion of the blade a thin profile which reduces drag as it slices through the target. The tempered blade was marquenched to imbue it with a hardness of 51-53 HRC.
The crossguard and pommel are crafted from heat-blued steel and the hardwood grip is tightly overlaid in cord and bound over with dark brown leather. Altogether, this sword is a quick-striking blade with a blade geometry built for maximizing cutting potential whilst retaining edge durability. Each one of these performance longswords was created by Angus Trim himself.

Atrim Swords Review ... I quickly noted two things. First, the sword exhibited the same excellent handling that Atrims are known for and second, Gus has really improved his finishing process. The sword handles well, being light yet authoritative in the hand. I was impressed by how well it handles in the cut, as well as how accurately it tracks behind the point during a thrust.
