TINKER PEARCE BASTARD SWORD (Sharp w/fuller) SH2411 Hanwei Designed by noted sword smith Michael ''Tinker'' Pearce and manufactured by Hanwei, these Bastard Swords are made to satisfy the need of every Western Martial Arts practitioner and sword enthusiast, to have a matching set of sharp and blunt swords for cutting and safe training practice.
The swords meet Tinker`s exacting quality requirements and are built in much the same way as his custom pieces. Each blade is forged from 5160 Spring Steel, Marquenched to the desired hardness of 50-53 Hrc while the tang is drawn back to the low 30s Hrc. The very end of the tang is threaded to fit an allen nut recessed into the pommel which allows for dismantling of the hilt assembly for inspection or to exchange blades if desired.
This Tinker Bastard Sword is a hand and a half sword (Oakeshott Type XVIIIa) that will provide the practitioner a fast, well-balanced sword that performs beautifully in skilled hands. The sharpened dual edge of the SH2411 blade features a diamond profile that accommodates a fuller that runs about one third of its length, providing added quickness while maintaining the necessary stiffness for a cutting stroke. The tapered oval grip feels exceptional in hand while the second hand easily slides over the wheel pommel when extra leverage is required. The cross guard and large wheel pommel are made of highly polished steel.
The hardwood-cored grip is black leather-over-cord wrapped. The Tinker Bastard Sword includes a composite fiberglass scabbard with matching black leather wrap and steel accents.
3 Blade Options Paul Chen's Tinker Bastard Swords are double-hand grip Oakeshott Type XVIIIa, available in three blade choices. Sharpened Diamond Profile non-fullered (SH2400), Sharpened Diamond Profile with fuller groove (SH2411 shown above), and an optional interchangeable BLUNT Blade (Blade only) (OH2403).
Blade Only Replacements for the Tinker Bastard Sword are also available in Sharp Non-fullered (OH2402) and Sharp with fuller (OH2412) versions.
