HAND AND A HALF SWORD SH2365 Hanwei The longsword became popular due to its extreme reach and its cutting and thrusting abilities. The term "hand-and-a-half sword" is relatively modern (from the late 19th century). This name was given because the balance of the sword made it usable in one hand, as well as two. The Hanwei SH2365 Hand-and- a Half Sword is a version derived from a 16th century piece and provides an economical and versatile cutting sword. Balance is excellent! In combination of its long hilt with large pommel to counter balance, this is a sword which lends itself to both single and two-handed use.
The large wheel pommel and thick hand guard are made of solid steel and offer incredible balance for the 27-1/4 inch dual edge blade. A wide fuller runs almost the entire length of the blade allowing powerfully quick cuts and maneuverable thrusts. The blade forged in 1566 high-carbon steel and hardened to 54-HRc for an optimal combination of edge-holding and resilience.
The pommel is peened and the 11" handle accommodates a 8" grip covered in black leather flanked with steel fittings. This battle-ready Hand-and-a Half Sword measures about 38-1/4 inches overall and includes a matching scabbard wrapped in black leather with belt loops and steel fittings.
