12th CENTURY VIKING SWORD IP-003 Legacy Arms
Our Generation 2/Legacy Arms 12th Century Sword is modeled after an original c. 1100 - 1250 Northern Europe, Museum and Art Gallery, Glasgow. A well known leading expert on medieval swords comments that the original could be from as early as 1100 to as late as 1250. The crossguard is of an early form, which the Vikings referred to as Gaddhjalt [spike hilt]. The blade is designed for the cutting style of fighting used during this period.
This functional 12th Century Sword features a hand forged, 34 1/2" 5160 high carbon steel blade that has been hand tempered. The cross guard and pommel are of solid steel and the dual-edge sharpened steel blade is constructed with a strong full length tang that is peened onto a beautiful "faceted wheel" pommel. The blade is equipped with a long fuller that runs over one third of its length, providing quickness and balance while maintaining the necessary stiffness for a devastating cutting stroke. The handle is hard-wood wrapped in leather.
The Legacy Arms 12th Century Sword IP-003 includes a wood scabbard with black leather wrap and form fitting steel locket and chape. A matching 12th Century Dagger (IP-103) is also available and sold separately. Read more on Functional Series Swords
