This Templar Knights display shield showcases a bold red Templar cross centered on an antique crackle white background with a thick black border studded with large brass rivet heads. There are passant lions and fleur de lis appointments quartered in brass finish as well as a singular Seal of the Knights Templar medallion in brass finish centered in the familliar red Templar Cross (the color red representing martyrdom). On the back is a strong hanging chain as well as a bracket for mounting one or two swords securely for display. Equipped with a thick steel chain on the reverse side of the shield, the shield is easily mounted and comes equipped with brackets for attaching one or two swords to the back of the shield. This shield of Knights Templar measures 25 inches in height, 18 inches wide and weighs approx 5 lbs. This popular shield has a really nice look and is a great value for the money.

Chain Hanger in back side of shield

A great conversation piece, collectors item and even LARP (Live Action Role Play) accessory. A decorative shield not intended to withstand actual blunt force combat. Specs may vary slightly from piece to piece.

THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR
The official name of the Knights Templars (Templiers) was the "Order of the Poor Knights of Christ", formed in Jerusalem in 1118 to protect the pilgrims visiting Palestine at the end of the First Crusade of 1096. The full, original name was "The Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple which is in Jerusalem", making it understandable why a short title became popular. The order of the Knights Templars was created a few years after the Knights Hospitalers, in roughly the same place and for similar reasons. The Templars rose to higher glory and power, ended in a more spectacular fashion, and their remains were passed on to the Hospitalers. The Templars were called the Knights of the Red Cross, with their symbol of a red cross on a white field. In 1128, when the Order was confirmed by Pope Honorius II, the Knights received the white vestment as a symbol of the purity of their life.
