The Marto 539 sword of Ivanhoe commemorates the literary hero of Sir Walter Scott's classic adventure. The intricately detailed bronze plated hilt features heraldic lions, gryphon, and unicorn, and a green simulated gemstone. The low maintenance stainless steel blade is mirror polished, with a fuller (groove) on each side. Overall length 39" / 99cm. Decorative use only.

The Story of Ivanhoe
Certainly the most popular work of Sir Walter Scott, called the Father of the Historical Novel because he set a pattern for this type of fiction that is still followed today. Among the famous and memorable characters in the book are Ivanhoe, Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, and Rebecca, daughter of Isaac the Jew. Scott took the name of his novel and its hero from the village of Ivinghoe in Buckinghamshire.

In the novel — a captivating tale skillfully blending historic reality, chivalric romance, and high adventure — Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe, a trusted supporter of Richard-the-Lion-Hearted, returns from the Crusades to reclaim the inheritance his father denied him. Rebecca, a vivacious, stunning Jewish woman is defended by Ivanhoe against a charge of witchcraft — but it is beautiful Lady Rowena who is Ivanhoe's true love. The nefarious Prince John plots to usurp England's throne, but two of the most popular heroes in all of English literature, Richard-the-Lion-Hearted and the well-loved famous outlaw, Robin Hood, team up to defeat the Normans and regain the castle.
