DELUXE BOARDING SABRE (363.1) by MARTO of Spain
This Boarding sabre was used by the French Royal Navy before Napoleon and also the English Royal Navy, that extended this piece worldwide due to the influence of these great Naval powers. It was introduced as an official sabre of the U.S. Navy in 1862. A wonderful tribute to the both Sailors and Pirates of the High Seas, the Marto 363.1 version features an ornately carved open work bowl guard finished in antiqued silver. The blade is forged form famous Toledo steel and features ornate engraved decorations in the fullers which include pirate ships full sail with skull and bones, North-South map orientation symbol, and ships anchor; all carved in excellent detail on the highly polished 26 3/4 inch curved blade. |
