GENUINE ALL-LEATHER JACOBITE SPORRANimage of Genuine All Leather Jacobite Sporran
A Traditional Jacobite style pouch, this early model sporran is constructed of all genuine leather down to the string and stitching; the sort that might have been used prior to the invent of stainless steel, bells and whistles. An old traditional style made for the rugged modern day highlander, this sporran is roomy, and has a manly no-nonsense appeal. It measures approximately 8 x 7 inches in size with an expandable opening to hold all a warriors essentials at arms reach i.e. phone, business cards, chap stick etc. Entirely handmade, the heavy front flap cinches down with a leather tie, while back and front support structures are completed with brown garment leather for flexibility. A leather belt loop on the back of the sporran allows early traditional belt carry and measures 4 x 1.5 inches. A sporran chain and belt ensemble is included for those who choose a more modern carry option. Outfit yourself for a night at the pub with this sporty leather sporran and always have a place to stash your keys and Wallace. (note: when wallet becomes Wallace it may be that you are an extremely patriotic Scot or more likely it's time to remember where you placed your keys for the designated driver)

Early sporrans were made from leather or skin, both deerskin and calfskin proved particularly popular. They were simple in design and usually gathered at the top by basic drawstrings or by thongs with small tassels. The Highlanders of the Western Isles often wore cloth pouches known as trews. Original sporrans dating from the fourteenth century and onwards can be viewed at many Scottish museums. The history and evolution of the sporran can also be traced through early British military paintings and portraits of Highland soldiers; these later sporrans start to show more elaborate decoration. The modern sporran, has evolved a long way from the doeskin bag containing ammunition or daily rations and many now feature stainless steel and even plastics! Despite modern enhancements however, sporrans retain their basic design principles and carry everything from car keys to mobile phones to chap stick.
