CULLODEN TARGE Culloden Spiked Targe PRH303 by DeepeekaPRH303 by DEEPEEKA
The Viking Wooden Shield made by Deepeeka is an accurate replica based off historical research and is authentic in its design. This hand-crafted Scottish Targe is a very well made replica of an original that was captured at the Battle of Culloden and now resides in the Royal Armouries Collection at the Tower of London. It is constructed entirely of wood with a premium quality tooled leather face embellished with embossed designs, as well as concentric circles formed from numerous brass studs. The targe comes complete with a leather strap and handle on the suede leather back, as well as a small sheath for holding the removable central spike. The tip of the shield boss has a removable nut that can be replaced with this steel spike. The shield is fully functional, and measures 18 inches in diameter and weighing about 4.7 pounds.

The Culloden Targe is named for the battle in which it was captured as a prize. The Battle of Culloden Moor was the final crushing blow to the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745. This was the final effort directed by Charles Edward Stuart, also known as "Bonnie Prince Charlie" or "The Pretender" to regain the throne of England for himself and his family. The original of this shield was probably used by one of the soldiers from the Scottish Highlands, and may be seen at the Royal Armouries Museum in the Tower of London.
