REPLICA OLD WEST PHARO CARDS719 Denix The playing cards of today look nothing like the cards of the Old West. Cards before 1870 didn't have numbers and early cards had square corners and full Figure King, Queen, and Jacks. Coatings didn't start until the 20th century along with rounded edges. Back in the Day, Cards were made of heavy paper called Pasteboard and the boxes opened on the side, unlike card boxes today that open from the top and bottom. As one might suspect, the square corned cards of the Old West were easily dog eared, both by players with intent and normal usage. When this happened the decks were put in a press and straightened back out overnight
for continued use.
Historically accurate in every detail, this new set of Old West Pharo Cards created by Denix, accurately replicates all of the features of the old, down to its antiqued Vintage Style Box that carries the box seal and tax stamp. This Denix replica deck is a "Faro Deck" consisting of 52 cards (authentically with "no jokers") and comes sealed in a Replica Pharo Card box. Box is marked New York Card Co - Samuel Hart - Est 1849. The boxes are intentionally stained and cards show blue bleeding on edges just like the originals.
Frontier fortunes were won and lost playing with Samuel Hart & Co pharo cards. The
Denix Replica Old West Pharo Card Deck will have you knowing when to fold 'em, and knowing when to uncork the Derringer. These cards are as seen in the movie "Tombstone". An additional historical information card is included with the set.
