This beautifully decorated shield is fabricated in Toledo steel and showcases a gold and silver plated coat-of-arms of the united kingdoms of Castile and Leon. The shields center bears the crests of the two kingdoms, the three-towered castle of Castile and the crowned rampant lion of Leon, reproduced in a relief-style of hammered embossing. The triangular shield, known as a kite shield, is double reinforced steel with triple reinforced corners. Beautifully detailed with riveted golden steel fittings framing a deep red and black enameled finish aged with golden craquelure veins. Equipped with a thick steel chain on the reverse side of the shield, the shield is easily mounted and also features an adjustable sword handle/mount giving the ability to mount most sized swords behind it. A great conversation piece, collectors item and even LARP (Live Action Role Play) accessory. A decorative shield not intended to withstand actual blunt force combat. Specs may vary slightly from piece to piece.

The Kingdom of Castile and Leon
The Crown of Castile was a medieval and modern state in the Iberian Peninsula that formed in 1230 as a result of the third and definitive union of the crowns and parliaments of the kingdoms of Castile and León upon the accession of the then King Ferdinand III of Castile to the vacant Leonese throne. The marriage of Queen Isabel of Castile and King Ferdinand of Leon resulted in a coat of arms depicting the symbols of both kingdoms-two castles and two lions. After the Bourbons prevailed in the War of Spanish Succession (1701-1714), the French fluer de lys was added to the Spanish Coat of Arms. Both the flag of Castile and León and coat of arms of Castile and León each show the quartered coats of arms of Castile, represented by a castle, and León, represented by a lion. During the eleventh century, the united Kingdom of Castile and Leon, under Alfonso VI became the predominant Christian kingdom within Spain.
