KING ARTHUR'S ROUNDTABLE SHIELDNobleWares Image of King Arthur's Roundtable Shield 965.2with natural steel finish by Marto Martespa 965.2 by Marto Martespa
This beautifully decorated shield is fabricated in Toledo steel and showcases a seal of King Arthur. At the shields center is a depiction of a broad cross done in Celtic knot work, around which is a representation of King Arthurs round table: a segmented circle from which knightly swords protrude. The triangular shield, known as a kite shield, is double reinforced steel with triple reinforced corners. Beautifully detailed with riveted golden steel fittings framing a natural steel finish. Equipped with a thick steel chain on the reverse side of the shield, the shield is easily mounted and also features an adjustable sword handle/mount giving the ability to mount most sized swords behind it. Marto's 965.2 King Arthur's Roundtable Shield measures 35 inches in height, 17 inches wide and weighs approx 7 lbs.

King Arthur's Round Table
The Round Table is King Arthur's famed table in the Arthurian legend, around which he and his Knights congregate. As its name suggests, it has no head, implying that everyone who sits there has equal status. The table was first described in 1155 by Wace, who relied on previous depictions of Arthur's fabulous retinue. The symbolism of the Round Table developed over time; by the close of the 12th century it had come to represent the chivalric order associated with Arthur's court, the Knights of the Round Table.During the Middle Ages, festivals called Round Tables were celebrated throughout Europe in imitation of Arthur's court. These events featured jousting, dancing, and feasting, and in some cases attending knights assumed the identities of Arthur's knights.
