M1859 SHARPS CARBINE PERCUSSION RIFLE 1142G Denix
The Sharps Rifle was produced by the Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company in Hartford, Connecticut. Due to it's smaller size and new breech loading mechanism, the carbine version was very popular with the cavalry of both the Union and Confederate armies and was issued in much larger numbers than other carbines of the war. Almost 90,000 were produced. By 1863, it was the most common weapon carried by Union cavalry regiments. Well preserved originals are now rare and expensive.

Measuring a little under 40 inches in length overall, this non-firing replica 1859 Saddle Ring Carbine is the little brother to the larger Sharps Military Rifle. Its features include a beautiful Antique Steel Grey finish throughout the rifle body, butt plate, barrel and barrel sight, band, and side saddle ring. The fore-stock and shoulder stock are constructed of wood and are given a stained and smooth polished finish.

This non-firing replica of the 1859 Sharps Carbine Percussion Rifle clearly demonstrates the lever action system and handling aspects of such an innovative and iconic weapon of history.
Featuring a working lever action and two tumbler hammer, it cocks and fires, and is additionally equipped with an
adjustable rear sight and saddle ring. A perfect prop when used in stage, film or costume accessory, yet its appeal is equally impressive when mounted in home or office for decorative display! |
