PRACTICAL PLUS TANTO (SH2259) CAS HANWEI
Providing a very economical cutting tanto, but uses more traditional fittings and construction methods, the blade of the Practical Plus Tanto is hand-forged high-carbon steel and differentially hardened using a traditional claying method (HRC 60 edge, HRC 40 spine). The temper line (hamon) is evident and prominent. The flat black saya features a black cotton sageo. The tsuka has genuine ray skin (same) with a black synthetic leather tsuka-ito for better gripping qualities. The antiqued fittings on this set are decorated in a Japanese dogwood motif with a beautiful antiqued black sunburst tsuba. The Practical Plus Tanto measures 16 1/2 inches overall with an 11 inch blade and weighs in at 13 ounces. A great economical tanto with fantastic quality.
The Practical Plus Katana (SH2073) and Practical Plus Wakizashi (SH2118) match the Practical Plus Tanto and provide a useful and economical set. |
