KAMAKURA SWORD (AC0500 LIMITED EDITION) by MARTO of Spain
The Kamakura period of Japanese history marks the governance by the Kamakura Shogunate, officially established in 1192 in Kamakura by the first shogun Minamoto no Yoritomo. The Kamakura period ended in 1333 with the destruction of the shogunate and the short reestablishment of imperial rule under Emperor Go-Daigo by Ashikaga Takauji, Nitta Yoshisada, and Kusunoki Masashige.

This magnificent museum quality piece features 24K Gold detail on the blade as well as 24K Gold damascene artwork on the sword. the Limited edition katana features its 440 high polished stainless steel blade, with a uniquely impressive gold leaf on black relief detailing and measures 40 inches overall. PERIOD OF KAMAKURA (XII-XIV) Formation of the Samurai Government; Minamoto no Yoritomo, destroyed the clan Heikee and moved its administrative base to Kamakura, organizing a form of government based on the regime Samurai known as the "Shogunto of Kamakura". Toritomo was nominated shogun (general) by the emperor, granting power to him to name his own vassals, installing the political feudal system "Samurai govern". With the growth of this feudal system, based on the personal loyalty, there arose the most famous Japanese warrior of all the times, "the Samurai". For the Samurai the sword is more than an important object of mere defense, as when it is in his hands it is believed that it shelters his very soul. Only the Samurai were allowed to carry the supreme weapon of the Japanese war "katanas", swords that were swung with two hands and were objects that took on persona and revered with almost sacred worship. |
